Children’s crafts for dad on father’s day

There are many fun and easy crafts your kids can make for their dad on Father’s Day. For these crafts to be mentioned, the materials are inexpensive to purchase and require minimal parental supervision. A double bonus for the busy mom!

The first gift your child could give his dad on Father’s Day is a dough footprint. 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of salt, and food coloring, and your child will have tons of fun playing with this soft concoction! Just make sure the dough is relatively stiff and flattened to about half an inch thick before your child makes the handprint. Put in the oven for 2-3 hours at 200 degrees until fully cooked. Then let it cool so your child can decorate with markers and glitter. Then your child’s personalized heart gift is finished.

The next craft to make for Father’s Day is a hand-painted coffee mug. All you need is a ceramic coffee mug, Porcelain 150 glaze (sold in craft stores), and watercolor brushes. This craft is quick and easy to do. After your child has decided how to decorate his mug for dad, ask your child to use the watercolor brush to apply the colored glaze on his design. Allow to air dry for 24 hours before baking in the oven for 30-40 minutes at 325 degrees and voila!

A personalized shirt or boxers also make a great gift for Dad on Father’s Day. The materials needed are a cotton t-shirt or a pair of boxers of the corresponding size, a piece of cardboard, and any type of fabric paint or markers your child wants to use to make his pattern. To ensure that the t-shirt or boxers do not bunch up and stain the paint on the fabric, it is recommended that you insert the cardboard under the t-shirt and secure it in place. Then let your child unleash his creativity! Just make sure it’s completely dry before giving it to its parent!

The final project your child could do is a picture collage. Have your child choose pictures that he would like to use or take new pictures and develop them. Then use a tag board or piece of cardboard and ask your child to arrange the pictures as he sees fit and stick them in place. As an added touch, your child could also use ribbon or glitter to decorate the edges of the collage. With a little help from mom, this project is sure to make any man smile!

These crafts will not only keep your child busy, but will also give them a sense of pride in creating something with their own hands for Dad on Father’s Day!
