If you have a large group, you can try a game of Spook Spotter. This is one of those indoor Halloween games that is actually a very chill game to play.

To start the game, the children stand in a circle. A boy is chosen to be the Spook Spotter. The Spook Spotter leaves the room or turns his back while one child is chosen from the circle to be the Spook. Spook chooses the rhythmic and repetitive movements that everyone will do without moving from their places. Moves can include floating ghost moves, jerky zombie moves, witch on a broomstick moves, witch action stirring a brew. Encourage Spook to be creative with his actions.

Once everyone is copying Spook’s action, the Spotter returns to the room and begins observing the group. Spook Spotter’s job is to guess who Spook is in three tries. Spook changes actions as often as possible without being seen by the observer. They all continue to copy Spook’s actions. After three guesses or when Spook Spotter guesses Spook’s identity, a new game begins with the choice of a new Spotter and a new Spook.

Children may need to be encouraged not to look at Spook, as this will give the game away to the Spotter. Instead, they can scan the group and change moves when they notice others changing theirs.

halloween whispers

This is another one of the indoor Halloween games that can be played with a large group. It is a version of the Chinese Whispers game. To start, ask all the children to write a creepy phrase on a piece of paper. Don’t let him show his sentence to anyone else and the supervisor collects the sentences.

The children sit in a circle and the supervisor gives one of the sentences to a child in the circle. This child reads the sentence and whispers it to the person next to him, who then whispers it to the next person. This continues around the circle until it reaches the last person who then tells the group what the sentence is. By this time, the sentence has usually changed considerably and there will be much laughter when the distorted version is told to the group.

halloween bingo

There are also some indoor Halloween games that kids can get involved in preparing. Halloween bingo can be played by large or small groups. Create a list of Halloween words and let the children make their own bingo cards with these words. They can use a 3 x 3 grid and write nine of the words on the grid. This way there can be two winners. The first winner can be the one who gets a row of three first and the next winner can be the one who completes their card first.
