Use the Internet to build a network marketing downline by attracting people to you

Using the Internet to attract people and build a downline reminds me of when I was starting my network marketing business.

I decided that creating an online presence was the way to go, so I started a website. I didn’t get much help, but this seemed like the way to go. It had been a couple of months and my website was getting very little traffic, maybe 10 or 15 people a day visiting, but no contacts were being made.

One night I decided to check my website statistics. When I entered, more than 300 contacts had been made. I KNEW it had to be a mistake. No way did he have that many. I had been getting pretty bummed out at this point and even 3 contacts would have seemed like a miracle. I restarted my computer to clear the ‘error’ and get the actual stats. But when I logged back in there were over 400 contacts and growing. Long story short, I got over 5000 leads this week.

Since then, I have been a true believer in the power of the Internet and its ability to attract people.

Internet attraction marketing works to attract people; People who are interested in what you have to offer. Both your experience and your knowledge.

But getting the downline has always been the hardest part of running an MLM business. The main reason was the approach that was being taken. New network marketers were “selling” their opportunity to everyone they knew or was within arm’s reach of.

Imagine you are having dinner and the phone rings. He’s a telemarketer looking to sign you up for that “once in a lifetime deal.” What do you think your reaction will be? Do you think the sale was made?

Now imagine you decided you needed something, so you “Googled” it and when you found what you wanted you picked up the phone. Do you think that guy made a sale? This is the new way to build a downline. Make people come to you. You are the expert and they want what you have.

Now creating a downline takes time. And while this is where long-term residual income is generated, you need to make money now if you want to continue in this business. The good news is that there are MANY ways to make money while building your network marketing business.

Part of the process of attracting people to you is helping them. Become a source of information, and like any other business, you can charge for that information. You may also receive payments from other companies when you refer a product and the people you refer make a purchase. This is known as being an affiliate marketer. I know that there are many different tools that I use and trainings that have helped me. So making recommendations is not a difficult thing to do.

Attracting people, building a downline, and monetizing have been so much easier since the internet came along. The Internet allows people to find you and your opportunity. The work I do today and what I do can be found 24/7 and is working for me today, tomorrow and many months or even years from now.

It is an AMAZING tool that allows you to communicate. Be the person you want to be and draw people to YOU; People looking for what you have to offer. In the network marketing business, people join you, not your company. The Internet allows you to reach literally millions of people.

An amazing new (and free) way to take advantage of everything the Internet has to offer is social networking sites. Places like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Squidoo and other social networking sites have brought the Internet to the pinnacle of all networking tools. Start interacting with millions of people and create a system that allows you to collect the names of other people interested in what you have to offer.

Facebook is fast becoming one of the top sites on the internet. More than 1/3 of all people who log on to the Internet visit Facebook. As a member of Facebook, you can create a profile and share it. You make contacts and become ‘friends’ with other like-minded people. Users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with others. Members can also add and message friends, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. It’s a great way to meet people and develop a level of trust. With friendship comes the possibility of business followers and an expanded downline.

Twitter is similar, but with Twitter you’re giving anyone who follows you up to a 140-character blurb about what you’re doing. Again, becoming an expert and helping people will draw them to you, and as you build trust by sharing useful and helpful information, people will become friends, followers, and possibly a good fit for your downline.

YouTube is a horse of another color. It’s a great place to share yourself and what you know. But You Tube is all about video. Video is becoming very popular and is a great way for people to really see who you are. Creating a video can be a bit scary, but it can actually be quite easy. You don’t need any fancy equipment or studio, just a wish and a message.

Squidoo allows you to make a lens. This is really just a web page. Squidoo is like YouTube in that you can create content that is intended to help people and create interest in you and/or your product. The big difference is that with a Squidoo lens, you get your message using the written word.

Facebook and Twitter are great ways to network and make new friends. YouTube and Squidoo allow you to get content on the web to attract people. These are just 4 ways out of many that can be used to get out there and start attracting people to you. Try them all and pick the ones that fit your skills and interests and you’ll be well on your way to building a great downline.

By simply sharing what you know and helping people, you can become the expert who attracts and not the seedy salesman who chases people. By becoming an expert in one or more aspects of building his business or working online, he becomes someone people want to follow. Every day, more and more people join the ranks of the network marketing business and are looking for someone to help them realize their dreams. Just being there to help.

It doesn’t take much, just focus on learning something new to help you build your business. If it helps you, it will help others. Once learned, the skill becomes an asset and makes you an expert. Soon the student becomes the teacher.

When starting something new, take the time to focus. Go through the stages of orientation, understanding, implementation and finally completion. Don’t jump from one thing to another before you have fully understood the first. Creating a daily, weekly, and even monthly plan of action can help you learn new skills that can then be used to attract your downline. Pass on your plan that you followed and create a “how to” for your new downline.

Having a plan and a way to go from being a newbie to a seasoned Network Marketer makes you the leader people want to follow.

So find the leader who has the plan to get you going, and along the way, pick the parts that fit your style. Turn him around and become the master who builds his own downline. It’s as simple as returning it.

So don’t be afraid to take the plunge on your new journey. Learn and then teach. Focus on learning something new that builds your business and then share it with the world. Use the power of the internet and free social marketing to attract your network marketing downline. Along the way, use your knowledge to generate income from your marketing techniques.
