Chihuahua information: advantages and disadvantages of owning a Chihuahua

The number one point in support of owning a Chihuahua is that they are fun companions. They are full of hilarious antics that make them fun to watch for hours.

The second positive point is that they are loyal and once they bond with you, they will not be deviated from them. They can become quite territorial about their human person.

The third positive point is that they are very fast and intelligent dogs. So much so that sometimes it will seem like they know exactly what you are telling them. And possibly they will.

A fourth point of support is that they are excellent watchdogs. They have excellent hearing and eyesight and won’t get much past their little eagle-eyed fur friend.

And last (but not necessarily least) we have the fifth point in support is that they are very easy to prepare. The breed comes in two coat varieties, the long and the short. The short coat is very easy to care for. The long coat requires a bit more work, as you will need to run a comb through it when you need it.

Of course, these are just some of the positive points in favor of getting a Chihuahua.

But it’s important that you don’t just look at the benefits of owning one of these little dogs. As you gather your chihuahua information, you will also need to discuss the downsides of owning this breed.

The main point against having a Chihuahua is that they are fragile and this poses problems if you have small children in your family. It is very easy for a Chihuahua dog to get hurt because he was not seen and was trampled on or a small child became too rude to him.

And the second negative point is that they tend to bark a lot although this can be managed with proper training from the beginning.

The third point against it will be that Chihuahuas do not do very well in colder climates. So if you live in a place that is particularly cold for much of the year, you may want to reconsider getting one of these dogs.

The fourth point against is that they are not really family dogs. They tend to bond with a person and can become quite possessive of that person.
