Comparison between Android and iPhone

There are many iPhones and Android smartphones on the market, leading to confusion about which one to choose. There have been many debates, discussions about whether Android or an iPhone is the best buy. I think an Android phone is better than an iPhone.

The following are the reasons why an Android phone is better than an iPhone:

1. Selection:

There are numerous Android phones and deciding on a specific Android phone depends on many factors such as storage, operating system, camera quality, display, color, etc.

2. Personalization:

Android is the best option if you want a customized mobile. You can install a third party app if you don’t like the standard keyboard. The android phone allows you to customize your predictive text in messages, it has cloud storage for all pictures, a health app, third party keyboards, swype text messages etc.

3.Hardware:

This is one of the main reasons for a clear discussion between Android and iPhone. Focusing on two current flagship phones of Android and iPhone, one can get a better clarification on the argument. What follows is the comparison;

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Android)

4GB RAM

Screen size 5.5 inches

Screen resolution 2560X1440

Screen type AMOLED IPS

PIXEL Density 534ppi

Size 150.9x 72.6x 7.7mm

Weight 5.54 ounces (157g)

Wireless/fast charging Yes

3.5mm jack (auxiliary) Yes

5 megapixel front camera

Android 6.0 Operating System (Marshmallow)

2.3 GHz octa-core Exynos 8890 processor

Apple iPhone7 Plus (iPhone)

158.2×77.9×7.3mm

6.63oz (192g)

Nope

7 megapixels

iOS10

Quad core 2.3GHz

Apple Fusion A10

Based on the above comparison, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, released 6 months earlier than Apple iPhone 7 Plus, is of better quality when it comes to hardware.

4. The Google Play™ Store:

Compared to Apple App Store, submitting an app to Google App Store is much more feasible as Apple goes through a tedious process of checking whether the submitted app follows their guidelines or not. This process can prevent malware associated with downloading an app. On the other hand, Apple denies your app entry in the app store if the chevron symbol has been used incorrectly, in order to create a perfect app. However, submitting an app made for Android to the Google app store is much easier than on Apple, which makes it less stressful and easier to create an app.

5. Widgets and multitasking:

Widgets are a great advantage for Android compared to iOS as the implemented apps are limited in iOS as they can only be added in the notification center. In particular, Apple does not have widgets on the home page to sort out, while all kinds of widgets like custom clock, weather, alarms, phone calls, email, messages, flashlight, etc. are favorites on Android and can be organize on the home screen according to the choice of each. Multitasking on Android is very easy to use than on iPhone. Multitasking on Apple is somewhat useful and hasn’t been implemented properly, while multitasking on Android has been useful for quite some time, making it a winner over Apple iPhones.

6. Expanded memory specification:

Many Android phones have expandable memory that an iPhone doesn’t. Instead, Apple would need an additional investment to upgrade any of its 16GB phones to a 32 or 64GB micro SD card in an iPhone. Taking this into account, Android is once again a winner.

7. Removable battery

Many of the Android phones have a removable battery that can be replaced with a generic battery of your choice. While that is not the case when using Apple iPhones as an owner, you must visit an Apple store. Some of the Android phones like LG G5 offer a separate battery for you to use.

8. Durability:

Most Android phones are durable as they are made of strong plastic or polycarbonate than iPhones which are mostly made of aluminum.

Based on all the above comparisons, buying an Android phone is more advantageous than buying an iPhone. Finally, considering the market share, the market size of Android phones is larger than that of iPhones. So it is better to have an Android phone than an iPhone.
