“From Dalton” starring Mick Mulder

“De Daltons” is an interesting dish that comes from Holland. It tells the story of a family with four children, whose ages range from baby Daantje to 10-year-old Erik. Most of the focus of the show is seen through the eyes of 6-year-old Tim. Jelle, 8, completes the group.

Episode 1 “New Neighbors”

The old man next door has died, and now his widow is moving out. Once the house is empty, the three older brothers decide to explore. As the two elders explore the house, Tim spends his time imagining how the old man in the house died. Eventually a new family moves in which has a son, Gijs Jan, who is the same age as Tim.

Episode 2 “The Treehouse Club”

Erik and Jelle have a club in the tree house, but they won’t let Tim play with them. Tim decides to start his own club, a spy club, with his new friend Gijs Jan and a secret password. Gijs Jan decides that the tree house club is better and betrays his friend by revealing the secret password. A good look at friendship, betrayal and forgiveness.

Episode 3 “Pants”

Being the third child, Tim never gets new clothes; only second hand. He tries a series of stretches to make himself grow faster. When his mother informs him that only time will make him grow up, he decides to take matters into his own hands by cutting off his pants legs so his mother will think he has grown up.

Episode 4 “Pool”

The family goes swimming at the local pool. In the dressing room, one of Tim’s classmates convinces him to let her see him naked. Jelle peeks through the partition and is convinced that Tim loves Clara. Her mission is to let everyone in the pool know this little piece of information. Now Tim must put up with everyone’s teasing.

Episode 5 “A Little Operation”

During a routine school physical, Jelle is found to have an undescended testicle. She must undergo an operation which leads to many questions from Tim, including asking her friend Gijs Jan how many “balls” she has. Nonchalantly, she reaches into her pants and calmly replies, “Three.”

Episode 6 “The Store”

The family decides to go camping, so they buy a tent. The kids are excited when they try out the tent the first night in their backyard. As is typical for boys, the night starts with a bunch of ghost stories. Can Tim survive the night or will nightmares keep him awake?

Episode 7 “Rose”

A neighbor had a baby girl and now Tim has decided he needs a little sister. He steals a doll from the next door neighbor, and even starts telling the neighbors that his mother had a baby. Humorous results abound.

Episode 8 “Billy”

Gijs Jan has a pet hamster and now Tim has decided that he needs one too. His mother doesn’t allow it, but soon after the boys find a stray cat. Through a little trick, the children manage to convince their parents to let them keep it. It turns out that our little heroes have no idea how to take care of a cat.

Episode 9 “Recorder”

Tim listens to a beautiful song being played on a flute. He decides that flute lessons are a necessary part of his near future. His mom buys him a tape recorder to help him get started. Tim soon decides that all that practice isn’t worth it.

Episode 10 “Museum”

Jelle decides to clean out the storage shed and turn it into a museum to display her model planes. Nobody seems to be interested in coming until the guys get together to do a little publicity campaign. Tim accidentally breaks one of the planes and blames it on the neighbor. Jelle seeks revenge on the neighbor and then finds out that it was actually Tim.
