Prostate Massage and Prostate Milking – Risks and Dangers – Nursing Guide

You may have heard of prostate massage and prostate milking. You may have experienced it or know someone who has. But you may not be aware of the risks and dangers. The prostate gland is a delicate and sensitive organ and must be treated like any internal organ: with respect, care and with the utmost health in mind.

Although some doctors have used massage or milking in the past, there is no way of knowing how many, if any, are using massage now. It comes with some serious risks and dangers and if you are using this procedure or treatment you would be very careful. Some doctors are reported to have used massage to relieve chronic prostatitis, something doctors routinely prescribe for now.

Therefore, letting someone massage your prostate or milk your prostate gland or do it yourself may not be a good choice. You may be doing serious damage from a one-time experience that ends up being unpleasant.

As you probably know, the prostate gland is a part of the male reproductive system and produces seminal fluid and is involved in ejaculation and orgasm. It is located just behind the bladder and is about the size of a walnut. The glans penis is susceptible to many diseases and conditions, including the more common benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), often referred to as enlarged prostate, acute or chronic proatitis, and prostate cancer.

It contains many sensitive nerves, especially in the upper and central part of the glans. Pressing or pushing on this part of the glans penis can cause serious damage.

The glans may be inflamed without your knowledge or without any symptoms called acute prostatitis. If you are massaging or trying to milk the glans you can really hurt it. One risk would be that if you have acute prostatitis, you could end up with Fournier’s gangrene, a serious infection, also associated with diabetes mellitus.

You can get a blood poisoning called sepsis. Many people die of sepsis every year. It can cause some hemorrhoid problems. And worst of all, if you have prostate cancer, you may be encouraging it to break out of the glans penis into the bloodstream or lymphatic system and spread to other parts of the body.

It can also damage part of the urethra, which is the channel through which urine flows.

Knowing some of the risks and dangers should help you decide whether you want to take a chance on prostate massage or prostate milking. Be sure to check with your doctor before undergoing any manipulation of this gland. It is not worth suffering serious health and medical consequences that can seriously change the course of your life.
