Take your Fantasy Football Ritalin

My God, Fantasy Football players are fickle!

Week 1 is not over yet, but I will make some predictions. AT LEAST 3 players who were not drafted in most leagues will have meaningful games. Charlie Batch qualifies for week 1. (Thanks to bad referees and uninspired red flag shooter Nick Saban for Heath Miller’s touchdown worth 28 points in one of my leagues!)

Remember Frisman Jackson from Cleveland last year? In most cases, do some math before making a big change to the list.

Generally these are flukes, one week wondering if it will. Consider the defense they played against and the situation. Was it a long play that increased the stats, was it garbage time with the game out of control?

Who could not be a week of wonders? Someone who puts up numbers against a good defense and is a STARTER or in a committee or in a prolific offense. It is usually a rookie runner that is worth betting on for a roster change. I picked up Curtis Martin his rookie year in week 1 on the waiver wire and boy did it work!

I bet a lot of leagues didn’t draft Jerome Harrison, Cleveland’s rookie running back, and I bet he’ll have some big games. Yeah, he’s Cleveland, so he probably didn’t get drafted many times.

Laurence Maroney and his mysterious knee injury probably scared some people. This guy will have some big games.

Jerious Norwood will have some big games.

Well, I could go on and on, but I’m trying to make a point rather than being too specific. Don’t throw away a mid or high round pick for a one week wonder unless it makes a lot of sense. Consider the schedule before ditching someone! Did they open against 3 good defenses? Most leagues have a 13-week regular season, so take your Fantasy Football Ritalin and generally wait at least 2-3 weeks!

Lots of touchdowns!
