The art of taking aesthetically pleasing nude photos

Nude photography is one of the areas of photography that most artists embrace at one time or another. It has that appeal that not many can resist. Nudes have appeared early on in all kinds of art: from paintings and statues to photography, in black and white and now in full color.

When people hear about ‘nude photography’ they immediately think of ugly and disgusting things like pornography and the like, and often for good reason. Unfortunately, pornography has contaminated everything, and while in the early years painting or sculpting a nude was an art form, it is now considered vulgar and distorted as sexy. However, nude photos can be taken in a very nice, artistic and tasteful way without touching the dark side. The secret is to take away the sex. When the nude model tries to be sexy, the photo automatically turns cheap and dirty.

If a person is trying to be sexy while fully clothed, it works well, as advertising has already shown. However, by trying to look sexy while naked, you automatically send viewers a very precise message, in which everything else is forgotten except “sex”. But how to achieve that which is apparently so difficult to achieve?

One way is to make the model look away from the camera. Have him look into the distance, as if he were thinking about something in the past or remembering a personal memory. This shows that the model has a soul, has feelings and is not just a sex toy. The main idea is that the model expresses an emotion that is not sexy for the viewers. Make her look dreamy or lost in thought, entranced, far away.

If you frame the image without your face showing, the nude photograph will be a summary rather than a person without clothes. Alternatively, you can turn your head so that her face is not visible.

Lighting is another important part of getting the sex out of a nude photo. If you’ve noticed in porn movies and pictures, there’s always strong, bright back lighting. Having too much light has nothing to do with art, with conveying a real atmosphere. That’s why you need a lot of shadows, which means the model should have the light pointing to the side of her or behind her. This creates a mystical feeling that leaves a lot to the imagination and mind.

Just by having the lighting right and the model not looking directly into the camera, you’ll achieve the perfect artistic look that won’t automatically turn your mind to porn, but to a beautiful piece of photography.
