The secret of the golf swing

The secret of the golf swing is the ability to take energy from the brain, where it is in electrical form, and use this energy to stimulate muscles precisely to control skeletal movements like a lever assembly. This set of levers then rotates a triangle, with folding sides, formed by the arms and shoulders in a perfectly controlled orbit. The elbows allow one side of this triangle and then the other to collapse and thus shorten as the opposite side remains straight, thus maintaining the size and integrity of the triangle.

Attached to the triangle at its tip (the hands gripping the club) is a freely swinging but perfectly controlled pendulum (the golf club). The triangle revolves around a perfectly fixed point in space. By controlling the location of this point, called “The Center of the Swing Circle,” the player creates an arc that constantly returns to the ball with great precision.

The rotational force of the triangle is transmitted from the ground to the center of the triangle through the spine which moves laterally at the lower end as it rotates. This lateral movement of the lower end of the spine is necessary to maintain the center position of the fixed turning circle, for a hit delivered with precision.

This lateral movement of the lower end of the spine also creates a powerful reversal of the rotation of the triangles where it is most needed. Done correctly, the movement also directs the rotation of the triangle point (the hands) towards the ball in the correct path, greatly simplifying control of the path of the clubhead.

The movement of the spine is a product of the movement of the feet, knees and hips as the legs support the body and allow the hips to bend. Since the hips rotate in a bend, the chest rotates and leans in concert with them. The triangle is thus perfectly controlled by the feet, knees and hips in terms of the direction of the return orbit and with maximum power.

The arms can be felt to lock in and control the club as the body swings back. Returning to the ball, the arms should feel as if they are doing practically nothing, as they acquire the speed of the rotating body and are controlled in their movements by the feet, knees and hips. To the observer, the arms appear to be extremely active, but to the player they feel like a pair of ropes. If the grip is on the club correctly and the hands are holding the club lightly, the clubhead will reach immense speed assuming the pivot is done correctly.

There you have the secret. Learn the perfect pivot and how to properly position the arm levers on the back swing. Once there, fully relax your arms and do the correct downswing pivot while allowing the club to swing freely from your wrists and voila, the perfect shot. assuming you have learned and practiced throwing Down, Under and Up.
