We need politics about politics!: 5 examples

When will the American people get sick and tired of the same old, same old way of being governed and letting these public officials do their own thing? personal/political agenda and self-interest, ahead of the common good? Wouldn’t we benefit if/when they truly serve and represent their constituents and the nation by consistently prioritizing quality politics over politics as usual? Statistics and polls indicate that the majority of Americans want better representation and service, rather than elected officials, who, even during a crisis, seem unwilling to do so. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly consider, examine, review, and discuss 5 examples of why we need and should require this behavior.

one. Whose priorities should be emphasized?: Should elected officials work for us or just themselves? How do they determine the difference between genuine, necessary priorities and more trivial activities? When, even during this terrible pandemic, so small was made, to help citizens, in terms of their health and well-being, as well as providing a financial/economic safety net, it seems that politics needs to be replaced, for the best interests of the people! Between the president’s behavior, the questionable actions/priorities, and the lack of an obvious strategic plan to address the ramifications, we must demand better, sooner rather than later. Like the star of the movie, grid, famous, declared, I’m sick and tired, and I’m not going to take it anymore! Is there not a danger, when the relevant and sustainable needs of environmental protections and the potential impacts of denying Climate Change, do not deserve better?

2. Public health: Shouldn’t public health and safety be prioritized over any other political agenda? How dare any politician equate economic stress and strain with the loss of human life?

3. Who should the Attorney General serve?: Precedent and the law indicate that the Attorney General of the United States is supposed to be the people’s attorney, rather than the President’s personal attorney. However, many have noted that the incumbent, Attorney General William Barr, appears to have gone against this precedent and has behaved, on several occasions, more as if he were serving Trump’s needs than most people.

Four. Changing the narrative regarding the Supreme Court of Justice: Who can forget, how the Republican Party, under the leadership of Mitch McConnell etc., declared that it was a mistake to even consider a highly qualified candidate for Supreme Court appointment, despite the fact that the recommendation came very early. in 2016? With the tragic death of beloved tastemaker Ruth Bader Ginsburg with very little time before the election, President Trump has recommended a woman, whose orientation is to the far right, during one of the most closely contested elections, in recent memory. At the very least, isn’t this the height of hypocrisy?

5. Specific Guidelines/Restrictions for Federal Court Appointments: When we are currently witnessing the President’s choice to serve for life on the Supreme Court with a woman, he appointed, in 2017, the Court of Appeals and, at that time, she had no judicial record. experience, is this not a dangerous approach and policy? Don’t we need and deserve better? We would all benefit if/when an approval requirement would be to receive a Qualified rating, by the special committee of the Bar Association, based on a clear set of requirements, etc.

Wake up, America, and make sure the nation’s future is protected by demanding that our politicians and elected officials serve and represent us and prioritize quality, relevant, sustainable, and well-considered policy over politics! We must demand this, sooner rather than later!
