Christmas craft idea for kids #1

handprint tree

This one requires no cutting and gluing, but it can be a tricky project (which kids love). From the smallest to the largest, all children love to paint their hands and get dirty (even adults have fun sometimes).

supplies

  • construction paper
  • green paint
  • paint brush
  • Gold glitter stickers

Addresses

  1. Lay some newspaper over your work area, as this can get a bit messy. Make sure the kids wear old clothes and not their best Sunday clothes.
  2. Place a piece of construction paper in front of the child. Use any color except green.
  3. Have your child completely paint a hand with the green paint. Starting at the top of the paper (which will become the bottom of the tree), ask them to place their hand with the little finger near the edge of the paper. Place 3-4 more handprints next to each other until they have reached the other side of the paper. If you want, you can use both hands so that your little finger always faces the edge on the sides of the tree. You can also use one hand and have your thumb out on one side of the tree.
  4. Continue by asking them to press handprints onto this first row, but make the second row smaller so the tree gets thinner as you get closer to the top. The top of the tree should just be a handprint.
  5. Now let the paint dry. Once the paint is dry, they can decorate it with glitter glue, paint, or even stickers. You can even have them glue on beads and ribbons.

Christmas craft idea for kids #2

candy cane reindeer

These cute reindeer will look great hanging on your Christmas tree. On the big day, the kids can remove them from the tree and enjoy eating the candy cane. So remember to keep the paper wrapped around the candy cane so you can enjoy it later.

supplies

  • 1 candy cane (per reindeer)
  • move eyes
  • Small red or brown pompom
  • 1 brown pipe cleaner
  • green paper or felt
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Addresses

  1. Holding the candy cane with the curved section facing up and toward you, glue a pom pom near the end of the curved section. This is his nose.
  2. Now glue two googly eyes to each side of the candy just above the nose.
  3. Take a pipe cleaner and bend it and shape it into an antler. Twist this around the candy cane right at the curved section. Now cut smaller sections of the pipe cleaner and twist them around the antlers at a few points.
  4. Finish this off by cutting a bow tie out of the green paper and glue it to the straight section where the neck would be.
  5. To hang this adorable decoration, simply tie a bow around the antlers. Then use your ornament hangers to hang it on your tree.

Christmas craft idea for kids #3

Santa Claus card holder

With so many Christmas cards it’s hard to find a place for all of them. This cute Santa card holder will help you find space and make a great addition to your decorations.

supplies

  • 2 sturdy paper plates
  • Red paint
  • black and red marker
  • Cotton balls
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Addresses

  1. Paint the front of a paper plate red and let it dry.
  2. Cut the other paper plate in half. Save the other half for another project.
  3. Once the paint is dry, place half of the plate on top of the full plate so that both bottoms of the plates are facing out. Glue the tires to keep them in place. Make sure the glue is dry before moving on to the next step.
  4. With the black marker, draw eyes on the paper plate half near the top. With the red marker draw a mouth.
  5. Take cotton balls and cover the edges of the half plate for a beard and hair. Glue a couple of cotton balls to the red plate at the top and slightly to the side to make it look like a Santa hat.
  6. Now glue some string or yarn to the back to hang on the wall. Now just fill it with your Christmas greeting cards.

These are just a few of the many Christmas craft ideas for kids that you can try. Use your creative side and imagination and make them unique and special. You can use them to decorate or give them away. So happy crafting and Happy Holidays.
